Acceptable for my girlfriend to volunteer for YWCA?

I don’t know how, but my girlfriend got roped into volunteering for the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) on Saturday. It appears to be some sort of women help center, dealing with domestic abuse, equal opportunity, daycare, etc.

The problem is that the YWCA supports the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.

What should I do?

I’m just wondering reading this whether your girlfriend is Catholic & whether she has strong pro-life views… if she does then perhaps try just gently pointing out that despite the good things an organisation like this might do, supporting the killing of children is more than just a small fly in the ointment. There must be some other type of organisation - a pro-life pregnancy crisis centre perhaps that she could volunteer for and feel 100% happy that she is doing some good for one of the most important issues of our time. Of course, you can’t force her, only find a nice way of pointing this out and suggest any viable alternatives you can think of. And make sure she knows you’re proud of her for wanting to make a difference!

Think what a powerful witness to her faith she could be. Not to mention a chance to help a child or woman in need of support.

The Ys (plural) in our area work with Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services on a variety of assistance programs such as these.

My opinion: As long as your gf is not out there actively pushing the agenda, but working on exactly what she states she is, it’s not a problem.
