Acceptable reasons to miss Sunday obligation:

My dad is convinced that he doesn’t have to fill the Sunday obligation if he feels in his heart that the priest celebrating the Mass is not reverent or some such thing. I’m 99.9% sure my dad is incorrect. What are acceptable reasons to miss our Sunday obligation? Can anyone provide for me official Catholic Doctrine that I can provide for my dad? Thanks in advance.

acceptable reasons to miss Mass are illness, looking after a loved one who is ill, and as far as i know, jobs that require you to to be at work, ex, firefighter, ems, police, doctor, nurse. unless you have a valid reason to miss Mass, it is a grave sin to miss it unless you have a valid reason to miss Mass, you should not miss it.

My guess would be that as long as it is a *valid *Mass and there are no othe parishes available, Sunday obligation is still there.
 
I would suggest a more Eastern approach. Rather than wrangle over legalism on a posting board, why not bring the matter to your spiritual father (priest) and ask for his guidance?
 
that’s pretty lame. You are there to visit and worship Jesus. The priest is there to facilitate things. Jesus is the center of mass, not the priest.
