Accidentally Lied in Confession?

I was unsure if a sin I was committing was mortal. I was receiving communion anyway, but the sin bothered me so I would always bring the sin to confession later.

At a recent confession, I asked the priest about it and we determined it was a mortal sin
so I confessed receiving communion in a state of sin. As he was saying the absolution, it occured to me that I was omitting mortal sins in my previous confessions, but I didn’t say anything becasue the priest was in the middle of speaking. I thanked him and left.

Am I being scrupulous or should I go to reconfess those sins? I think it is a serious matter but I didn’t intend to deceive him beforehand.
 
If you believe you tend toward scrupulosity you need to be under the regular direction of a priest who knows of your scrupulosity situation so that he can help you properly form your conscience.

The person to ask this question of is your priest, not random people on the internet.
 
A lie is a deliberate attempt to falsify the truth. Lies are not accidental.

I thought that it was Jesus Christ who judged whether a sin was mortal or not. I did not know that it depended on a discussion and decision between penitent and confessor…always learning…

Confess those sins once and for all and forget about them. Stop thinking. Act.

Much is “grave” objectively. For example …murder or lust etc.

One needs though full knowledge and deliberate consent in order to commit a mortal sin.

So if your sleepwalking and your murder someone…well that was an involuntary act …

I believe that this is what HisIsTheCrown was getting at when he or she said that only God knows if a sin is mortal. The objective gravity of a sin can be for certain but for a sin to be mortal the consent must be deliberate. This is where only God can read the heart of the individual and know the fulness of their consent.
