The real presence of Christ.
Union with Christ, forgiveness of sins, strengthening against further sin. All the graces that he was in need of, he received. What graces do you think he got?
I saw this happen just a couple of weeks ago. We had a baptism at my (Eastern) parish and a 6-year-old boy received for the first time. The mom just reassured him that it would be fine and congratulated him on his First Communion. It happens all the time - even with the parents present. If at a funeral where there are non-Catholics present and the priest does not give instruction before Communion, many people accidentally receive Communion. They are not sinning and they are not receiving the effects of Communion.
