I have a nice feeling of accomplishment right now. 😃

My husband has been gone all day; he had work in the morning, and he is hanging out with his friend Sean this afternoon.

So the five girls and I were at home. And I got things done!

I dyed my hair. (I started turning white at 16, so I’m used to it.)
I scrubbed my bathtub.
I wiped down all my glass cabinets.
I cleaned the bathroom sink and mirror.
I got the girls to clean their room (which takes nearly as long as cleaning it myself.) 🤷
I swept the steps and the genkan.
I did the laundry and hung it out.
AND…
I baked two chocolate pies.
I baked one black forest pie.
I baked two pans of cranberry orange muffins.
I made up a big pot of curry.
And my blueberry tart is waiting its turn in the oven.
(I do everything from scratch, even the pie crusts, so that takes time.)
The four big girls are at the park, and I am nursing the baby. It’s 3:00 in the afternoon on Valentine’s Day, and I get to sit down. šŸ‘

How’s your day coming? Post up anything you’ve gotten done today! šŸ™‚

Wow!!!

I’ve no intention of trying to compete with your list!
:yeah_me: You get the trophy!

and nursing the baby, too…?

you rock. (but please don’t do it again or some of us will be feeling like losers because we can only get to folding yesterday’s laundry.)

what’s a genkan? (if it needs to be swept, maybe i don’t want one…?)

Oh, yes, and nursing the baby! My baby LOVES to eat. šŸ˜› She is two months old and has more than doubled her birth weight, just with breast milk.

A genkan is the area just inside the front door where you remove your shoes before stepping up into the house. It also has a getabako in it to store the rest of the shoes besides the ones you just took off. (I live in Japan, and every house has one of these. šŸ˜‰ )

Don’t worry. Saturdays are my big cleaning and baking days. Of course, Sunday involves going to Mass. That means we get up at 5:45 AM (I was already nursing when the alarm went off). I shower and dress, and my husband and I drag the girls out of bed. The three big ones dress themselves, and I dress the one year old and the baby, changing their diapers as I do it. I wash rice, put it in the rice cooker, set the timer, and we leave. We have to be out of the house no later than 7 AM. We walk a mile to the train station. I wear the baby, and the big girls take turns pushing the stroller with the toddler. We ride the train for 45 minutes or so, change to the subway, ride for another 10 minutes, then walk to the chapel. The big girls have CCD, and my husband teaches the 7th grade CCD class. I watch the two little ones during CCD, and Mass starts at 10 AM. Then we go back home, doing it all over again.

😃 We don’t have a car.

Today is Monday. I have homeschool for the three big ones, and the two little to watch after, nurse the baby, feed everyone else, etc. And we’re having guests over tonight, too. We don’t have a dryer, so I have laundry to hang out. But I’m writing because I have to be with the baby right now. šŸ‘

4 dressed kids to the train station by 7 a.m… wait… what… … what?

i give up. i’m going back to bed and staying there. (i can’t even get a pot of coffee on by 7 a.m…)

Actually, it’s 5 kids. šŸ˜‰

But don’t worry about it. It’s a big deal for me to get that done, and it’s HARD. It’s just necessary to be able to get to Mass. Usually, I have a terrible time getting out of bed. Chronically low blood pressure adds to a normal ā€œnon-morning personā€ issue, and there you are.

I save my coffee for the mid-afternoon. šŸ˜‰

I should think you’d feel accomplished. Nursing times were exhausting times for me.

Way to go! I don’t know whether to feel exhausted or inspired!

šŸ‘

Sillara, you are an inspiration to us all.
What I accomplished today:
went to Bible Study
Went to mass.
tried a new meatloaf recipe and fed the family.
took my boys to the video store to get a game to keep them busy
since they’re off school all next week.
took the dog for a half hour walk.
back to the video store to exchange the game because it was boring (okay, I’m a sucker)
tried to fix the VCR and failed.
But it is Sunday, and I’m enjoying not working today.

OK - so maybe I shouldn’t belittle my own accomplishments today!

Today, I:
  • Rode in car with SIL to airport after a fun weekend; had some good, productive, serious conversations - though not THE one I’ve been avoiding (see my new thread)
  • Flew home to DH and kids, whom I’ve missed terribly
  • Found my car had a flat tire in airport parking lot; changed it myself, and figured out the hydraulic jack on my own! Drove 50 mph on the interstate of a major city all the way to my Church where I…
  • Made it just after my youngest son won his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby (never happened for us before; older son always went for style over speed! And what style his cars have had!). So sorry I missed it, but happy for my boys’ good day
  • Took boys to Mass
  • Ate supper with family at home and cleaned dishes immediately afterwards - yay us!!
  • Lavished hugs, kisses, and praise all over boys and baby girl
  • Posted several on CA forums! So glad to get advice.
  • Going now to check ebay for flower girl dresses - wish me luck!
  • Will be in bed before 12:00, I’m determined

ā€œSillaraā€ Wow! I think you are Super Mom/Wife! šŸ‘

My ā€œworkā€ consists of caregiving, for my sweet mother (who is 86). Here’s my list (this is a typical Monday):

Made breakfast for mother and myself (the kitty, too! ,=^…^=, )
Did the dishes
Changed mothers bedsheets
We went for a walk, outside… (enjoyed the beautiful day God gave us!). 😃
Came back, and helped her with stretching exercises
Morning prayers
Gave mother her bath
Cleaned 3 bathrooms… top to bottom
Dusted the entire Living room
Made lunch for mother and myself (the kitty, too! ,=^…^=, )
Did the dishes
Did mothers laundry
Afternoon prayers
Folded laundry
Made out tomorrows grocery list
Made dinner for mother and myself (the kitty, too! ,=^…^=, )
Did the dishes
Helped mother into her PJ’s (and helped with teethbrushing, etc.)
Watched some TV together
Evening prayers
Tucked mother into bed

And in between all of that… found time to sit for a few mins… and post on CAF! 😃

Whew! šŸ˜‰

That’s great everyone!

I am not always so productive, but I am trying. :o

whoa!..you have a very high energy level…good job to a mom like you…

God bless you and your family

I don’t think I accomplished much today. I was so tired.

I washed and hung three loads of laundry
started a fire and kept it going all day
taught four kids (sorry, my little first grader, we didn’t do any school today)
mopped the kitchen floor

Not much, but I wanted to participate, so I’m adding

I gestated a baby!

Still gestating…
