Dragons are part of all ancient cultures, on pottery, on clothing, even in recent American Indian legends. The word dinosaur was invented in the 1840s and was used in the theory of evolution which claims it took millions of years for random evolution of all life on earth. The theory of evolution (natural selection is another theory) was put forth by an atheist to discredit the Bible. However, there has NEVER been evidence of a single transition species (missing link). The Bible declares creatures were created by God according to their own kind. The Bible is not a modern science manual, but it is the word of the Creator of the universe, and I’ll take his Word over man’s theories any day.

It amazes me that the evidence is there to be found (actually a legal phrase), but when presented with evidence (like that below) in support of the Bible, people think they can merely shriek nah-ah, disregard the evidence and demand even more evidence. It IS there to be found.

The fact that so many take Genesis as metaphorical worries me. What’s next, will Jesus’s life be considered metaphorical too?

Really??? Could you not tell that some of these are outright hoaxes? Right? Humans did not walk with the dinosaurs… Just because there is a pic, does not mean it the human who drew it saw such an animal. Humans are imaginative. If a paleolithic human found a fossil what would he have been thinking? Occam’s razor people!

This again? Popes as far back as Pius XII have been open to modern scientific theories concerning biological evolution. The Church sees no issue here. It seems that some simply think they can interpret the Bible better than the living Magisterium.

I don’t know … I think it’s symptomatic of a bigger debate about the nature of scientific and religious truth, and whether one trumps the other.

There are way more important things than this, of course, but I see why people (including myself) get worked up over it.
