Most folks try hard to find time to pray. For some, 15 minutes a day is an accomplishment.

For Carmelite Father Elijah Schwab, prayer is a lifestyle. He spends almost as many hours in prayer every day as most people spend at their full-time jobs. Seven and a half hours a day, he once calculated.

Praying 7 1/2 hours/day is a lot of prayer! Wow! I have difficulty and get tired way before that, but I respect people who can do marathon prayer.

Of course prayer for lay people is going to be far different than that of a Carmelite Friar living at a monastery.

Don’t get discouraged because you can’t match what he does, but keep in mind that where you are is where God has called you to be.
