This appearance of the Virgin Mary was approved by the Church five years afterward.

This parish website gives an excellent account of what happened then.
Interesting.

One principal message is to not work on Sundays. I actually have someone working for me right now helping me around my home. As I am planning a trip for medical purposes, I asked me to work last Sunday. I hesitated but thought that it would be okay as it is for medical purposes. On Sunday, he came over and asked if he could skip it because he wanted to rest. I told him that it is fine. And shared my hesitation to have even asked him in the first place. Well, I did tell him yesterday -no more Sundays unless it is a dire emergency and it would serve the good (e.g. the health of someone).

So, I want to be more strict with myself and others who may work for me on maintaining Sundays as a day of rest. I also need to encourage my family and friends about the same.

Regarding the swear, I guess the french must have had a swear word which included the name of Jesus or something to do with Him. I wonder what that swearing was. I sometimes swear when I get really, really, upset and then I have to go and confess. For decades, I did not swear and then one day I did when I was really upset and under pressure. I need to be more strict with myself. I shocked and shock my kids when I swear because they are not use to it and they find it supper bad of me. I am going to work on it - the very rare times - but I don’t want it in my existence.

I visited La Salette many moons ago and spent a good part of a day there.

I think Melanie lost her mind or was having some psychological problems years later and people were arguing that the apparition must have been false given her state - but the Church maintained the validity. Who knows, maybe the devil was bothering her.
