I worry about the increasing euthanasia mentality that is occurring in our health care world. I’ve just read again about situations in hospice where family members are persuaded to allow more morphine to be administered to the point of leading to death. Sure, death was going to happen eventually, but people are more and more, being told that this is what their relative would want, or that it’s more humane to end their suffering now rather than later and what about this kind of story where someone’s parent may have said they didn’t want to live without their spouse and the children take it literally and make it happen by drug induced coma then death. I asked the same questions when I read this story.
