Hey everyone. Is acupuncture an okay treatment for a person to pursue according to Catholic belief?

From what I have read on previous posts on CAF, if it is the ‘Western’ version of acupuncture that is merely medical science then yes, it’s compatible. But if it’s the Chinese version that involves deities, yin yang etc, then it’s not. Traditional Chinese acupuncture is very much centered on a philosophy that is not compatible with Catholic philosophy.

Acupuncture is a system of medicine, not a religion. Just like a person of any religion can use western medicine, any person of any faith can use acupuncture.
The language of acupuncture can be confusing, because of an original mistake in translation that is unfortunately perpetuated today. Any time you hear “qi” or “energy” “flowing in the meridians” - substitute “oxygen, nutrients, and cells of the immune system traveling along with the blood.”
