I just received the current issue of the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly, only to find the entire 200-page issue sullied by a sympathetic treatment of the proximate cause of the sundering of Christian unity, that exponent of many dark methods and doctrines, that arch-nemesis of the Angelic Doctor, the arch-nominalist William Ockham.
And this is a magazine normally dedicated to good Thomism, although it is not dogmatically Thomistic.
Does anyone else subscribe or read ACPQ? What are your thoughts on this quarter’s issue, William Ockham, and especially the dastardly articles therein (although I’m all for academic freedom), namely, William of Ockham on the Freedom of the Will [lol, seriously, that’s the title, even though Ockham believed in free will about as much as Martin Luther in De servo or as Gottschalk] and Happiness, and, unbelievably, “]Authentic”] Tradition and the “]Right”] to Dissent: William of Ockham on the Eucharist - his eucharistic doctrine was just about as orthodox as Berengar of Tours before his recantation, or of Ratramnus enemy of [Edit: Paschasius] Radbertus.
I want to call the editor and groan. O, what happened?*
