Across the USA - where are all the traditional places?

If you come by NYC, be sure to stop by the Church of the Holy Innocents, which has daily TLM in addition to the OF. Great choir too.

Hmmm…just curious… is it traditional to celebrate the sacrament of confirmation during the Lenten season? As a Catholic not “in-tune” with the EF, and its traditions, I am curious. To me, this celebration of the sacrament seems out-of-place in that particular season of the church.

It might have been more of a situation where a Bishop who knew how to celebrate the EF was going to be in town, which created an opportunity for those who wanted to be confirmed in the traditional rite to do so. There were also Easter Vigil confirmations in the OF as well.

Fr Wadsworth, who is the General Secretary of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, gives some brilliant homilies. And Father Daniel, who is in residence while studying, is an absolute firebrand in the pulpit!

Plus, you can roll through on Fridays or first Saturdays and still attend a traditional liturgy here. I assisted at Fr. Wadsworth’s Low Mass this morning and as always, it was inspiring, even without a sermon.

I work up in Rockville, so it’s not the easiest thing in the world to get there on a weekday (the only reason I’d go downtown on a weekday is if I had a meeting or a conference).

But I know what you mean…

On edit, we’re trying to figure out some way to manipulate Fr Daniel to stay after his schooling and get incardinated in this archdiocese.
 
There’s an FSSP community right outside of Topeka, Kansas. Very active Traditionalists there. Even has a Traditional school.

It was also the Feast of the Annunciaion, so the confirmations were not on a penitential day, as of course you know!
 
I second TrueLight’s suggestion to visit Holy Innocents in Manhattan.

I also suggest one of my favorite places in the world, Mater Ecclesiae parish in Berlin, NJ. This is a 100% trad parish, of the diocese of Camden, and it’s vibrant and very welcoming. Really lovely people! Close to Philadelphia (this is South Jersey).
 
I was in Kansas City Missouri a few years back, and one Sunday, I was invited to attend Our Lady of Good Counsel, which is a more traditional parish. I was impressed.

Other recommendations I have are:
  1. New York City - St. Vincent Ferrer
  2. Philadelphia - St. John the Evangelist and the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul
  3. Columbus (Ohio) - Check out the parish downtown run by the Dominicans. People from all over the city like to attend there.
  4. St. Paul (MN) - Check out the Cathedral there.
  5. Detroit - Go to Christ the King in Ann Arbor. At least seven (7) parishioners (all good men) have entered seminary for the Archdiocese of Detroit within the last 10 years. I also second Assumption Grotto.
I second St. Mary’s in Oldtown Alexandria, Virginia. I’ve heard good things about Our Lady of Lourdes, and I have attended St. Agnes in Arlington, Virginia.
 
The Saint Benedict Center in Still River, Massachusetts is run by the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
