Act of Family Consecration and the Manual of Indulgences book question

I was re-reading through a book I purchased a while back called “The Manual of Indulgences” and on page 43 it mentions what is called " An Act of Family Consecration" where in the presence of a priest or deacon one can consecrate ones family to the Sacred Heart or the Holy Family.

The problem is that it mentions this prayer of consecration but leaves out actually putting the prayer in the Manual of Indulgences book. My question is would this consecration prayer be contained in the prayer books used by priests and deacons and that is why is it not to be found in the Manual of Indulgences book?

I really would love to consecrate my family to the Holy Family so any information that forum members could provide on this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately thats not it. That prayer can be found in many traditionalist prayer books where an indulgence would have a number of days indulgence attached to it. The indulgences the church attaches to prayers now don’t carry a number of days due to abuses that happened some time ago.

I am looking for the prayer mentioned in the Manual of Indulgences book that is to be said by a priest or deacon that would carry with it the indulgences as they are offered now, not like in the old days (300 days indulgence for example).

Thanks for posting. I am surprised that know one would know about this as I would think that family consecration would be important in the Traditional forum.

I will ask a friend of mine who is no longer on this forum as I know he made a consecration to the Holy Family. He is single though.

Thanks for taking the time to ask him later about this. It doesn’t matter if you are single… you can consecrate anyone along with you in your immediate family (mom, dad, siblings). You don’t necessarily have to be married. I’m not married and would like my little family consisting of just me and my mom to be consecrated to the Holy Family.
