4 Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”[f]—to whom we gave no such commandment— 25 it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who will also report the same things by word of mouth. 28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: 29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.[g] If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.
in regards to abstaining from blood, what does this specifically mean, are we not to consume anything with blood in it?

Any help would be great,

Thanks
Andrew

This is explaining those parts of the OT laws the Christians are still expected to follow - for example they do not need to be circumsized anymore.

Blood means drinking blood or eating anything that blood has touched - I am no expert, but I think that’s where kosher comes from, it’s a preparation of meat due to it being touched from blood, so it can then be eaten.

Yea, part of the process for making meats kosher involves covering it in kosher salt to help extract the blood and such…im guessing then taking the salt off… I do it anyway just because I find the thought of pink steak or bloody meat nauseating…

Does this mean I can no longer eat my steaks rare?

I’ve never heard of anything suggesting that Christians need to keep kosher, I’d say nope, eat 'em pink if ya like!

Thanks for your replies guys.

But does this mean we should eat meat containing blood etc.

Could somonebody clarify what the above verse actually means if this is not the case.

Thanks
Andrew
