All scripture needs to be read and interpreted with great understanding of the religious and social traditions of the time. A good example is when Noah was drunk and naked, the greater sin was for his son to look at his naked body, rather them the nakedness of Noah himself.
In this case I suspect that Bonnie is probably correct that those who thought they might just HEAR a blasphemy were concerned with being in a state of sin themselves. While, today it is the greater sin of the person posing nude that we criticize, it is we who should avert our eyes to avoid the temptation of lust or other evil.
