I know that one can offer prayers and devotions in reparation of the sins committed by humanity in general, but I’ve also read that it’s typically not done for individuals, living or dead.
My question is, can it be?
I’ll give you a hypothetical example: if a parent is deeply grieved by a wayward child’s life of sin, can the parent offer that grief in reparation for the child’s sins, even though that child may not be repentant? If not, how is that different than the more traditional choices of reparation for blasphemy by humanity in general?
Could that also be paired with petition that the Lord also touch their hearts and lead them to the true repentance they currently do not feel (but still count as an act of reparation in the meantime)?
