It refers to Peter and John.

I feel ignorant in asking, but, it this John who wrote one of the Gospels or someone beofre then, and how did Peter know John?

Yes, it would be the apostle, John, who is also the evangelist that wrote the 4th gospel. Remember, Jesus seemed to reveal much to three of His apostles, Peter, James and John, and they were specially granted a vision of Jesus’s glory at His transfiguration. Matthew 17:1

The John in Acts was one of the Twelve apostles. Tradition attributes the Gospel of John, the three letters, and Revelation to him. A more liberal view is that a disciple of John may have written some of these based on John’s testimony and teachings.

There is also a John Mark who makes appearances in Acts as a follower of Paul. Tradition associates him also as a later disciple of Peter, and typically holds him as the author of the Gospel of Mark based on Peter’s testimony to the Romans, though even within tradition there are some thoughts they may be different Marks.
