Hello I have had chronic nausea for the past 5 years and have this acupressure band the “Bio-Band” which is suppose to use acupressure in your wrist to quell nausea. I know that some alternative treatments such as certain forms of yoga or tai chi are discouraged since some of the core principles in these examples are “Spiritual” I have heard before that as long as a medical treatment seems rational the church would be fine with you using it. Any thoughts or comments whether I should or could use this?🤷

There’s a lot of science behind how motion sickness bands work so I put them in a different category than “new-agey” remedies. I believe those bands work by stimulating some nerve in your wrist that send signals to your brain that tell your stomach to function normally. I’m not a doctor so I don’t know exactly. But there’s a huge difference between motion sickness bands and something like those phoney power balance bands that people wear.

I’m sorry you’re going through a difficult time. My prayers are with you.

I was chronically nauseated for several months or longer the last year or two. Better now. 🙂 It was horrible. I lost 35 lbs and only weighed 100 lbs before I became sick. I tried everything. The doctor gave me some anti nausea medicine that helped me keep food down, but it made me so sleepy. The best thing in the world that helped- ginger. I tried it out of complete desperation. It worked within 5-10 minutes! Try it. If you’ve never had ginger before, it is an acquired taste. I found a ginger candy that was much easier for me to handle and easy to carry with me whenever I went anywhere. Try an organic foods place. They even make ginger crackers.

It works- I’m back to my old fighting weight! 😃

A lot of things work independently of the possible esoteric explanations. Physics is not determined by our understanding of its phenomena. If you look at the web site it makes it clear that people do not really know why it works, they just know that it works. At this point I would treat it like any other technology that you do not understand, gather data to see if it is really effective, gather data to see what the side effects are, and then make a decision.

Whatever it is that you use for whatever reason if it works use it. You are not bound by the beliefs of those that use it. I spent a year at SWIHA

They speak of “Spirit” and the “Universe” but so what. I see that what they call Spirit is God and the Universe was created by God. Who cares what they think it is.

There is scientific evidence for Yoga helping those with arthritis and you do not have to believe in Eastern Hindu religion to move your body and make it feel better.

Recall that as Aquinas pointed out it is your intention that determines the action.

I shoot a deer and kill a deer with intent to kill a deer.

I shoot a deer with intent to kill a deer and accidentally kill someone.

I shoot a deer with intent to kill someone wanting someon to believe I was trying to kill a deer.

My intention determines what my action is.

If you intend to help nausea then do something about it whatever it may be.🙂

I know people who use those bands for carsickness and seasickness and swear by them. I also knew a Dr. who quit smoking by wrapping a rubber band around his wrist and snapping it when he wanted a cigarette–whatever works, I guess.

My father-in-law had medical acupuncture done by an anesthesiologist for his back and leg pain and it helped him tremendously (it also was covered by Medicare).

There is nothing “new agey” about any of this–it is just Eastern medical practice, and if they explain it by various theories, that doesn’t mean you can’t use it and that there isn’t another scientific explanation for why they work.

my Kroger’s now carries candied ginger which is like dried fruit with sugar- spicy but addictive. I would also recommend trying the essential oil of peppermint- great for headaches too when applied to the nape of the neck.

Aside from that as others have said ,there is nothing wrong with acupressure since this is not a form of prayer or meditation to another god rather an alternative form or medicine to what is commonly practiced in the west…i.e medicate or opperate.

Trader Joes has the best candied Ginger on the planet. I snack on this as well as their jumbo raisins all the time. A common homeopathic remedy good for evrerything is Arnica. When I took a homeopathy class this was used for almost everything.

Check out some homeopathic remedies for what ails you. I doubt that they will harm you and if they work…whoopee.🙂
