Acupuncture - anything wrong with it?

I’ve heard differing opinions as to whether or not Catholics can use acupuncture… is it okay to use? I’m considering it as regular medical treatments continue to fail some problems I’m having…Is there any teaching on such things?

As one who uses the technique to treat patients and as a “traditional” Catholic. I can tell you that in my estimation, there is nothing wrong with it. There are fMRI studies and other experiments that show the scientific basis for the technique.

The theory behind it is steeped in oriental mysticism and the terminology is agricultural, but there is valid science behind the practice.

And, no, I’m not giving out medical advice. That has to be given by your GP.
 
You are very welcome. Please ask your Family Doctor for his medical advice. He can better direct you to a practitioner and whether or not you have a condition in which you shouldn’t have an acupuncture needle inserted. By they way, there are other modalities that oriental medicine offers besides acupuncture. Check out this website to see if the person that you will go to is reputable:
