I have family moving to Oklahoma who are formerly sedevacantist. The liberal and rowdy parishioners at the church they attended in Oklahoma City was scandalous. Does anyone have any information on a good, traditional minded parish within say an hour’s drive from Ada, Oklahoma? Any feedback would be appreciated as their faith in the Church is still new and as my brother said, “If I wanted to go to a baptist church, I would have gone next door!”
God Bless.

I’m not sure how far these cities are from Ada, but the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (who are in union with Rome) have two parishes in Oklahoma at this time:

Tulsa and Edmond.

They say the Latin Mass according to the 1962 missal, and are approved by our dear Pope Benedict.

I belong to the TLM parish here in Seattle, North American Martyrs, and it is really lovely to go to Mass and have it be the same as I grew up with.

Hope this helps.

Those are good suggestions, but they are two hours drive from Ada (which is out in the sticks)

An easy way to determine driving distance (and time) between two locations is to use either Mapquest.com or Google Maps. Just click on the button for “Get Directions” which is on the left side of the page.

I had family in Stonewall. It’s good to see Ada in print!

Hello from Tulsa! Yeah I have to agree the FSSP in Tulsa is great, but too far from Ada. Unfortunately we Catholics are few and far between out here 😦 Nice to see some more moving to Oklahoma though 😃

agbasinger: My family is now in Stonewall and goes to Mass in Ada. Small world.

No way! I wish I remembered where my great grandmother lived in Stonewall. She went to a tiny Baptist church there.

Good luck to you. I’m sure that being Catholic in Oklahoma is no easy feat.

Hello, we are attending St. Joseph’s parish in Ada. (I am Jeff’s brother). My wife and I are getting used to the Novus Ordo, but we are extremely lucky to have found Father Rusty. He is probably the nicest priest I have ever met, and very humble. He has been so much help for us getting back to the Church. We had our marriage blessed and were confirmed May 21st.

Wish there were more Catholics here, but the ones we have found have been friendly and very helpful.

We are looking for a Catholic book store if anyone knows of one close to Ada or Stonewall.

I think that St. John’s parish is located about 45-minutes to an hour from Ada. St. John’s is located in McAlester, Oklahoma. I attended a weekday Mass there last summer when visiting an ill family member there. Fr. Higgins is, from what I can tell from the homily, quite orthodox, and no altar girls, or EM’s. Father gave out Holy Communion himself, and only under one kind (Holy Eucharist). Mind you, this was a weekday Mass in a building outside of the main church. They probably can’t afford to air-condition the main church building - sanctuary - for weekday Mass in the summer. I wish I could have seen the inside of the main church, though, which was lovely from the outside.

Here’s a link:

Oklahoma is diaspora for the Catholics, even the New form churches are rare

Here are the Latin Mass locations in full communion with Rome

web2.airmail.net/~carlsch/MaterDei/churches.htm

and here is a listing of the Traditio.com

traditio.com/tradlib/masslat.pdf

There is a good selection around Oklahoma city, and the best place is the Clear Creek monks in Oklahoma, but Ada is too far
The traditio.com link’s site seems to be sedevacantist, and claims that the OF Catholic Mass profanes the altar, and any Latin Mass held in the same building is therefore invalid. It grievously goes on to claim that OF Catholic Church hosts are “cookies” compared to traditionalist hosts.

Anyone ever been to the Infant of Prague Shrine? It’s about an hour and half north of where I live. I am taking the family there today.

I know you wanted something that is an hour away, but, if Edmond is two hours, might I suggest going there. It’s worth it, trust me. I drive two hours one-way every Sunday (I think everybody on this forum is sick of me saying that…) to get to the FSSP Parish in Tulsa.
