So, do you believe God created Adam & Eve?…that’s my point: take what has already been Created repackage, put a spin on the source or purported function… and… “I made this!” :yeah_me:

Good point. In order to be an evolutionist you have to believe the earth made you.
That’s a depressing thought.
…sorry, I thought that we were; Yahweh God is the only Creator; science studies and guesses… sometimes it guesses with some degree of accuracy… when something falls in place (atom) science does not care how such knowledge came about–it only cares that “science” determined it so; in the past the words “theory” and “hypothesis” were almost always included in its sound bite (findings/explanations) as we approached the 21st century science makes statements of fact (“the sun will be extinct in X millions of years…”) regardless of how much guesswork goes into their analysis and academic papers and recitations (“life cannot be sustained by X eco system…”); and when science is found to be wrong (“universe is so old it is folding upon itself, blah, blah, blah…”) it refuses to own up to its failures and accept that it GUESSED WRONG!So, do you believe God created Adam & Eve?

…actually there are several theories on that: ET spread the essense of life on a barren planet; asteroids bombarded the mass and microscopic life form exploded on the planet; just the right cooling and atmospheric reaction (with or without ET’s assist) caused life to emerge; residual radiation from the Big Bang irradiated the ooze pool giving life to a single-celled creature… without the acknowledgement of a Divine Creator, every single theory relies on myriads upon myriads of coincidences that developed within zillions upon zillions of years whose final outcome would only be evident after zillions of permutations brought about by the natural selection (sound bite meaning pure chance upon chance upon chance upon perceived stimuli)–the short of it? Time and cosmic conditions infused life (order) into a lifeless barren hunk of minerals, metals, salts, dirt and others (chaos)! In order to be an evolutionist you have to believe the earth made you.
That’s a depressing thought.
I believe in (meaning believe such a proposition is true) evolution and yet I do not believe this. And furthermore if I did, I’m not sure why it would be depressing? In order to be an evolutionist you have to believe the earth made you.
That’s a depressing thought.
Becuase if the earth made you than God didn’t make you and that would be depressing for a Catholic.I believe in (meaning believe such a proposition is true) evolution and yet I do not believe this. And furthermore if I did, I’m not sure why it would be depressing?
I guess we’re different. That wouldn’t depress me.Becuase if the earth made you than God didn’t make you and that would be depressing for a Catholic.
I believe, based on the evidence, that God chose not to do this. Whether he could have, I have no way of knowing.Do you believe God was unable to make man
I believe, based on the evidence, that God chose not to do this, either. Whether he could have, I have no way of knowing.but made monkeys
Close enough. I certainly believe, for example, that my ancestors did not have lily white skin as I do. But that does not mean that one of them woke up one day and their skin had changed color.that turned into man all by themselves?
No rational soul?I believe in (meaning believe such a proposition is true) evolution and yet I do not believe this. And furthermore if I did, I’m not sure why it would be depressing?
I don’t see how evolution is opposed to Christianity. The Bible says not that man was formed ex nihilo, but that God formed man from the earth. In order to be an evolutionist you have to believe the earth made you.
That’s a depressing thought.
How was Eve formed?I don’t see how evolution is opposed to Christianity. The Bible says not that man was formed ex nihilo, but that God formed man from the earth.
And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became a living soul (Gen 2:7).
I sometimes wonder if the different reaces began at the Tower of Babel.I think the exposure of Adam & Eve to earth environment (specially when they used to live for over 950 years) could have affected our genes somehow, which led later on through their descendants to have new races, different skin colours, and different ages, etc.
I don’t think that is true. It says that God made man from the earth, i.e. that man is materially composed of the earth, which is true. This is a different matter from the process by which he formed man. It does not says that that the God literally fashioned him with physical hands out of lifeless dirt like a human sculptor. The soul is not composed of physical elements so evolution says nothing about that. Evolution, in light of scientific evidence, seems a reasonable explanation for how man’s body was formed. Such a grand process of creation seems fitting to the majesty of God.Well one thing is for sure–since God made man out of the slime of the Earth–then He definitely didn’t make him from any other species of living thing.
That is a good question, but I don’t suppose that I could ever arise a certain answer. It seems possible that Eve was formed from Adam is a less literal way than a fundamentalist might suppose. Was the fall of man due to him eating the literal fruit of a literal tree or is that symbolic? It seems strange that this story would not be at least to some degree symbolic, though it is possible it is entirely literal. On the other hand it is possible that God physically removed Adam’s rib by surgery and by formed Eve by some unspecified process. I don’t know of any definitive reason to absolutely reject either of those positions and either way has no bearing on whether Adam’s body is the product of an evolutionary process. How was Eve formed?
Ah, I get it now. And when I see politicians, they’re just reverting to their origins.I don’t see how evolution is opposed to Christianity. The Bible says not that man was formed ex nihilo, but that God formed man from the earth.

In any case, the theory of evolution does not by itself contradict the** creation of Adam by God in the image of God**, the formation of Eve from Adam, the historicity of Adam and Eve, the fall etc.
You no doubt are aware of the constant teaching and understanding of the Church regarding Eve?I don’t think that is true. I am aware of CCC 371 which leaves open the exact methods God used to “fashion” woman from the man’s rib. CCC 1605 also has useful information. For a deeper understanding of “male and female He created them”, please read CCC 369-373 including the paragraphs cross-referenced in the margins. You no doubt are aware of the constant teaching and understanding of the Church regarding Eve?
