Adam and Eve vs. Monogenism

So there is a papal encyclical promoting a historical Adam and Eve and the Catechism is pretty insistent on the idea of Adam and Eve as the literal first humans from whom all descended.
However, the idea of a first pair of humans that everyone descends from - not even Monogenism but Biblical Monogenism - is biologically impossible and irreconcilable with mass breeding involved in Evolution.

Your objection here is not valid. It does not matter what science considers as biologically impossible and irreconcilable. This is only a theory, it is not an established fact. God, on the other hand, is infinitely powerful and will accomplich his will - no matter what science thinks. He also governs nations as well and I’m sure all nations would reject that Divine Revelation.

Fr. Robert Barron asserts that Adam and Eve aren’t historical figures. With the Catechism and a past pope against him, how could he properly make the claim?
It’s either the Catechism is wrong, so the authority of the church who set it up is wrong, thus Catholicism is debunk.

What Fr. Barron meant is open to dispute, what the Church teaches is not. The Church is not wrong. The Holy Spirit guides the Church. Do you call him a liar?

Only partially correct. So called scientific monogenism is a mere theory and it is entirely different from Monogenism as Revealed by Scripture and as defined by the Catholic Church.

Remember, pre-Adam and Eve Humanoids didn’t lack a soul per se: what you mean is that they lacked a spiritual soul. However, they processed a material soul, like all other animals, plants, etc.

How bizarre that you omit the possibility that what is impossible in nature alone is not impossible should God will it. It seems to be you’re really crafting an argument under the assumption there is not God…

I have a theory that resolves these issues. In brief, The human body evolved from lower life forms. Then God intervened to create Adam and Eve, the first beings on earth to have abstract reason, free will, and immortal souls. All modern humans descend from Adam and Eve, placed on this earth about 80 to 50 thousand years ago.

The description in the Bible of the generations descending from Adam and Eve is not entirely literal, skipping many generations between Adam and Noah. Much of the first 11 chapters of Genesis is figurative, though it figuratively describes early human history.

We must believe that Adam and Eve were two real historical human persons, otherwise the teachings of Trent on original sin would be false.
