Uhhh, so yeah, about them. Were they Jewish or what? In fact, what were those who lived before Abraham called?

Those from Shem, son of Noah (?) were later called Semite. That’s where the term “anti-semitic” originated from. Incidentally, some theologians think that Shem is Melchizadek, king of Salem, later in Genesis.

Cain’s descendents were the “daughters of men” who married Seth’s descendents, the “sons of heaven”.

Noah’s son, Caanan, fathered the Caananites.

Caanan’s son fathered the Cushites.

I sure hope I’m 4 for 4, here!

The Jews were actually the 2 southern tribes that stayed loyal to the Kingdom of Israel after the split following King Solomon’s death. These two tribes were Judah and Benjamin (?). “Jews” is actually slang for “Judah” or “Judeites”.

The other 10 tribes that broke away from the kingdom were eventually called Israel until of course the Exile. After the exile, the territory of Israel (the 10 northern tribes) is later called Samaria.

So, every Jew is an Israelite, but not every Israelite is a Jew.

Adam and Eve were not any race, religion, culture or ethnicity. None of those distinctions existed at the time of Creation. Read Genesis, which details how and when those distinctions arose in human society.
