I think most people over the age of 25 enjoy at least one Queen song, and Freddie Mercury wasn’t 100% straight.

Your daughters might dishonor you especially if you don’t know who Rick Springfield is…
I have arranged for Adam Lambert to perform at my Daughters wedding-that ought to make up for it

I have one of Adams songs, because that’s the only one from his album I liked enough to buy. I certainly wasn’t impressed by Adam’s first major public performance, and things like that make me not want to promote him to kids. The thing with music and teens is that often they don’t separate the music and the person. So if they love the music, they idolize the person. I don’t know how restrictive one should really be with a 16yo. My eldest is 8. I would suggest you go to youtube and listen to his songs for the lyrics - you can probably find them with the lyrics on screen. Then decide for yourself if the songs are worthy of your teen singing along to them. That’s the thing that makes me uncomfortable singing even the one song of his that I love (pick u up) in front of my kids.

Well, maybe this will put a different light on the question.

Would you receive Eucharist from a gay priest?

Would you “support” a parish that has a priest who is gay?

Of course you would.

My point is, you are not purchasing the man or woman when you purchase their artistic product. If you avoid purchasing anything from a sinner, you will never purchase anything again, as we are all sinners, and many of us are blatant, unrepentant sinners.

Adam Lambert has a lot of talent and has produced a sweet album that parents and children/teenagers can both enjoy. He is still very young and hopefully over the years will come to realize that he is choosing sin over truth. Hopefully he will come to terms with his choice and choose celibacy.

I believe it is possible to buy art products without becoming seduced or unduly influenced by the artists’ sinful personal choices. C’mon, these artists are human beings and they are just trying to make a living like you and me! People who are gay have been given a horribly tough burden to drag through life, and many don’t bear it the way we think Christians should bear it. Well, that’s just too bad for those of us who consider ourselves “Christians.” It’s just way too bad that all the rest of the world doesn’t live life the way we think they should live it.

Many people with a homosexual orientation give in to the constant barrage of secular teaching that “being gay is OK.” Everywhere they turn, they are told that their orientation is perfectly normal and happy. Many never hear that Jesus has a different idea of how gay people should live their lives. Have YOU ever talked to a gay person and told him/her what the Church teaches? How, then, are they to know that there is an alternative to accepting their sexual orientation and seeking a sexual partner?

If the priest is openly gay, no I would not receive the Eucharist from him. Is it possible I have received the Eucharist from a gay priest in the past? Absolutely. But if the priest was flaunting it, nope not receiving Eucharist.

And I would definitely, absolutely not “support” a parish that has a gay priest, if it is public knowledge and he is openly gay and pushing an agenda.

If any artist makes their sexual orientation blatant and their act becomes an example of their lifestyle, such as Lambert’s act at the American Music Awards, I will not be buying their products because at that point it is not about the actual art of their craft but about their own agenda.

I would no more buy from a hetersexual artist that simulates a sexual act on stage either. Its not about the sexual orientation of the artist, its about the blatant public display of it.

His music isn’t my taste, but your daughter could find far worse music to listen to.
