and then, …consider praying, but praying a lot. Maybe saying a novena, or a daily Rosary, for God to help you overcome the addiction. Ask Our Lady for help too.
Avoid all occasions where you might be tempted…
and - stay busy. When we’re busy, the devil has a lesser chance of tempting us with addictions, IMHO
Confession, first… then to break the bad habit… pray daily a “911”… that is NINE “Memorares”, followed by ONE Rosary… and ONE Chaplet of Divine Mercy (Fr. Corapi suggested this and called it a “911”).
Also… frequent Confession, frequent Holy Communion and frequent Adoration.
I know it sounds like a lot… but it works! You’re in my prayers. God bless.
Repentance. I had to hit rock bottom and sincerely repent about my addiction and had to make a decision to fight it, really hard, because I knew that the evil one will not easily surrender.
Confession. Do it frequently. That is our shield against the sin. It provides reconciliation to our souls.
Realize that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You will not solve this, it will be God’s **GRACE **working on you who will make you defeat the addiction. Trust me on this one, Grace, Grace, Grace. Pray for it as much as you can.
Prayer and devotions: Rosary, Adoration, daily Mass, spiritual exercises, are all powerful. Do as much of these as you can, it is never enough. They will keep you closer to God and in grace with Him.
Some people need other people support, like AA and others. I joined one of these groups, but it was not for me, but for some people it is really useful.
If this is related to purity, Our Lady should be your ally. She is amazing.
Pick a priet your comfortable with and go to confession to him only and have a good heart to heart in there and tell him how you try hard but keep failing and have an addiction and ask him what to do. Keep seeing him only in confession.
Everyone has one or two sins that dog them. Your not alone.
