Additional details needed to confess masturbation?

Are there any aggravating circumstances for the sin of self-abuse and masturbation that would make it more grave, and need to be confessed?

And besides any necessary details, do sins need to be confessed in relation to one another?
For example (hypothetically—this is not my confession!): someone steals money to buy pornography in order to masturbate. Does that person need to confess the reason why he stole (a sin itself, but the purpose is also sinful)?
 
If someone stole for that reason --I would confess it as such.
 
My understanding is that you confess the sins that come to mind. If you are doing things related to a sin, and you remember it, just say it in the confessional. You may not be able to verbally cover every sin and you may forget some. I always add on, “and all else that I have done that is sinful”. The"details" get covered when you are given absolution.

I am not sure if it is “necessary” – but since it was theft for the sake of the grave sins against chastity --I would mention such.

What is necessary for sure is that which changes the “kind” (species).
 
Search yourself in the presence of God. Go in and confess as well as you can. It will come to you. If you are worried about something, tell it all. As you go to confession more often the priest will guide you. Trust.

Quite honestly, why would anyone want to present themselves to God to ask for forgiveness if someone is not going to be honest and try to come up with “loopholes”?

Newsflash – God knows already. He loves you and wants nothing more than you to be honest and open to his love. Only by being honest with the priest in confession can God, working through the priest, give you the peace and forgiveness you desire.

There are three distinct sins tho they are linked to one another. The reasons do not have to be given, nor the linkage, unless it constitutes another sin, e.g., racial hatred.

The thieft sounds venial, the other two sins sound mortal.

Any and all mortal sins must be confessed that were not previously confessed.

If a mortal sin is not confessed because it was accidentally forgotten, then that sin is also forgiven. However that mortal sin must be confessed whenever the next confession is made.
 
On a related note, does viewing porn fall into the ‘minimum, moral culpability’ mentioned in the Catechism, 2352.
 
Confess like a child and tell the Priest everything in all simplicity. If I was the guy in your scenario, I would tell him everything. Not to give him a long story or something like that, but I would probably say something like “I stole to get the means to commit a mortal sin”. It also makes the sin of watching porn worse, because you really created ways to do it, it was not just “something that happened”… I would confess that also!

The part in Confession where I am telling my sins normally takes about 1 - 2 minutes and I think I normally tell such things. No details, just the important parts…

Only God knows your culpability, but the quick answer is no. Pornogaphy is a grave offense, both the production of it and the intententional viewing of it. And the consequences of it are devastating.

Quote any detail that is relevant. If you go into too much detail, rest assured, your priest will turn you back on course.
