Additions to the Eucharistic Prayer for Moms

I went out to breakfast and every woman was told, “Happy Mother’s Day” and one younger woman looked rather sad and said, “but I’m not a mother” and I felt sorry for her. She really had a sad look on her face.

Why would they even do that? Don’t they know not every woman is a mom?

Hi all,

I have a hard time on Mother’s Day. I come from an abusive background this day is very painful for me. I figured I’d go to Saturday vigil mass and hope that maybe it wouldn’t be so heavy with Mother’s Day stuff but no such luck.

During the Eucharistic prayer the priest changed a few words here and there, very deliberately, not at all accidental. Then he added a whole paragraph (3-5 sentences) about mothers who are both here and gone and then finished. I thought we weren’t supposed to add things to the Mass. I know I’m a grouch because Mother’s day is very painful for me–shows me all I never had–but adding to the Eucharistic Prayer seems wrong to me.

I sure hope it’s a valid mass as I was an emotional wreck after this mass.

I would have been an emotional wreck too if my pastor had been messing with the most sacred prayer he could ever utter with his mortal lips.
