Its become apparent that in addition to being recently diagnosed with ADHD, my depression has returned. I know pretty much have to stop everything and start treating my conditions. Both have thrown a massive wrench in my faith life. With the ADHD, I can barely focus on my rosary or other prayers. Last night I was saying the 54 day rosary and had all the trouble in the world with it.

The depression is leading me back down their wrong path. I’m falling back into a web of sexual desires; which along with eating was how I use to deal with symptoms before. Now I have to go back to confession and confess these sins again. I’ll admit it, I’m ashamed to go back and confess these to my pastor. I just hate what this is doing to me. God feels so far away. Any prayers would be welcome.

I also have these diagnosis. Along with a few others. I know what a struggle it is. I think that we will probably have some amount of struggle with this the rest of our lives. At least, for me anyway. My prayers are with you, may St. Dymphna help you find grace and comfort in the Lord.

:yup:
What helps me is this is a learning time so I can recognize so as to not fall so easily and know when/where to get help. Sometimes you just have to endure and it is painful. I focus on it isn’t God who tires in his mercy, but us who get tired of seeking it.
Do not be discouraged.
Depression doesn’t do the condition justice, term. It was compared to a minor hell. I agree with that completely.
Prayers for you.
I used to think that my depression was subsiding because this or that was bothering me. It was the exact opposite in that it was trying to be releaved through those other sources - sexual - eating, etc.

Praying for you.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Praying to St. Dymphna for your health & recovery.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request.

(Pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.)

Saint Dymphna, Virgin and Martyr, pray for us.

I always had a low lying depression. I know it sounds corny but my dr. put my on Lexapro and thank the Lord I don’t have that heaviness anymore. I have been depression free since on the medicine. I still have the “blues” esp if its raining out;) but the med keeps me in check and away from severe depression. May the Lord guide you to what can help you best!!! God bless!

I just said a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary for your intention. God bless you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
V. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.
R. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

I’ve had lots of experience with mood disorders and other problems, I’m not well, but I sure am better. 🙂 I’ve found 12-step support groups very helpful, Fr Richard Rohr’s "Breathing Underwater looks at the connection between 12-step recovery and the gospel message.

Online forums ok, but even the best of the Internet is not nearly as helpful as being in the same room with other people who are engaged in a similar struggle. I’m far, far from being any sort of expert, but I’ve heard neuroscientists now admit there is a physical effect of people being together. I’m convinced that’s why the devil does so many things to keep us isolated and apart, even with things that give the illusion of being together.

Sometimes when things just aren’t going well helps me to just stop and sit, realize the real presence of Christ with me, and that it’s ok that I’m not having a bad day. Do the little you can each day, trust that with God’s help that will be enough.

I will pray for you, please pray for me.

Tagged this post here RIDs, restless, irritable, and discontented.

I had great 12 step sponsor who when I talked to him about how bad I was feelings said, "let me make sure I have this right. Your restless, irritable, and discontinued. You are selfish, dishonest and afraid. So what’s new? That’s why we do this stuff (the 12 step program.)

Hail Mary, Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee,
Bessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
