God bless
It is a Catholic agency, the government ones are even worse.

It’s a shame because I worked for a long time within children, autistic children and have great references, do they care, no and my wife is a teacher of 7-12 years olds, do they care, no.

I understand the vetting process, I even have references for working with children in Kosovo in 2000 and Estonia in 2001 but they still go on and on about my slight brush with the law, at 18 I never got in trouble since, I changed jobs, changed friends, went to college showing the world that I had no interest in crime but they don’t care about that.

In my group they just placed a child with a couple (38-48) who are nudists and they said this was fine, he has his own business and has never been in trouble or been ill.

Everything is topsy-turvey.

And they take weeks to answer you and have used all my days off work in the last six months to see them.

It is so frustrating, I understand they have to trim the bad ones and trim the ones who are half hearted but we have passed these hurdles.

😦
Are you saying a catholic adoption agency placed a child with “nudists”?

It is a Catholic agency but the social workers are not.

Also the government has forced all Catholic agencies to accept their way of doing things like taking on same sex couples which is why they are all closing donw.

I will keep you in our prayers

We are also trying to adopt, in the US, it is a LONG wait, we are now doing foster care 🙂

I am so very, very sorry for the sad situation you are in. Infertility and adoption struggles are a difficult and heavy burden for people to bear and those who have not carried that cross sometime do not know how weighty it feels. I too am childless, and have little to no hope of conceiving. At this point, I’m not so positive I have a chance of adopting due to some other difficulties my husband and I are going through.

Adoption is not the happy-go-lucky easy thing that people think it is, or the thing I though it was when we first started down that road years ago either. And it is sooooo painful to still have no babies when there are so many other families who seem so much less “deserving.” That seems like a poor word choice to all of you who are reading that right now who got pregnant easily, or who adopted easily, or who have never had negative pregnancy test after negative pregnancy test or have been told by an adoption agency that your husband is too old, or that they have an average of 4 babies to place annually and 30 families waiting, or that your foster home is just fine for your foster baby but that he or she would be better off with the addict that left him or her going through withdrawals or potentially brain damaged or eating through a tube, or that the international program that you applied for just closed to applicants.

Smokedsalmon, I hope you and your wife get approved for adoption soon and get a little one placed with you. I will keep you in my prayers. I wish that the systems weren’t the way that they are. I really do.

I have no words of advice or wisdom… but you have my prayers. I’m so sorry you are struggling through this. Please know you have prayers and are doing the right thing.
In the meantime - is there anything you can do to volunteer to become an inspirational influence in a child’s life? Like a Big Brothers/Sisters program? Or volunteer for the youth ministry at church? Or teach catechism classes? I know it’s not a substitute by any means, but you have an opportunity to give your time to the general community in a way that many parents never can.
May God bless you through your struggles…
