I don’t know where to post this… so I apologize if I put this in the wrong spot.

I don’t know what the proper etiquette to go to an adoration chapel so I am hoping that you guys can give me some guidance.

I have gone to the local adoration chapel for years. Its not my parish but its close to my work so I stop in at lunch. I can only spend 30 minutes or so, but I do believe it helps me.

My question is, do I need to be concerned about “intruding” on someone if I go at a different time?

Honestly there is someone at work that I would like to get to know, but I don’t want to push my way in. I want to bridge a friendship and I think if they saw me at the chapel it may give them a glimpse of me that they will never see at work. Hoping that they would realize that I do have faith and I only want what’s best.

Just last week I saw on the schedule that they go in the evening… I did not even realize they went so it was a nice surprise. I almost feel like God was showing me something. My issue is that I go at lunch… which is several hours before they go.

Is it ok if I go when I know they will be there?

I would not say one word to them. They are signed up at 7 pm so I am planning on showing up at 6:30. Then when they come in I would leave. I would not stay during their time. I just want to show them that we share something.

Does this make sense?

What do you think?

Sounds as tho you want to make the Blessed Sacrament a matchmaker. I see nothing wrong as long as your intentions are respectful to Jesus. I don’t believe he would mind, and in fact, would understand.

If I misjudged, my apologies.

Thank you for your reply.

Your comment about making the Blessed Sacrament a matchmaker made me chuckle. I don’t know that it’s 100% that, but I would like to get to know them, so there is some of that there. On a side note, who would be a better matchmaker than Jesus. 🙂

I would be nothing but respectful and polite.

I always go to the chapel by myself, so I don’t know how other people view such things.

I always go to Adoration by myself, but I’m rarely alone while I’m there. Adoration is not a private event. Since everyone is welcome, I don’t see a problem with what you’re planning to do. It’s not like you were not already going but now have decided to do so because this other person will be there. As long as your primary intention is to adore the Blessed Sacrament, to me there is no issue. 👍

You go to Adoration to adore Christ. The fact that
someone you like and want to know better is there is even
better. As long as your first focus is Christ and you
aren’t chatty Cathy well Good luck! Let us know
how it turns out.

The reason why people sign up to be in the adoration chapel is to make sure that the Jesus is not alone.

They do not have “private time” with our lord. Now, sometimes it may feel a little “strange” if the adoration chapel is very tiny (i.e. room for only 4 people), but they do not have private time.

It is open to everyone.

God Bless.

Thank you for your replies. Your comments echo my thoughts, which is reassuring.

It is a small chapel, but there are 15 to 20 spots… though I have never seen more than 5 or 6 in at once when I was there.

My plan will be to go as I have planned… and see how things feel when they arrive. Maybe I will return to my lunch time slot… or maybe I will alternate between lunch and evening.

I do believe crossing paths at the chapel would be better then intruding on their work time (and wasting my time at work)

I think it is fine. My date night with my husband is going to Adoration. We’ve been married for years but during the last few years of going to Adoration with him our relationship has changed and we have gotten to know each other in new and different ways. It’s a beautiful time.

Thank you for your reply… I am hoping to strike up a friendship is all… and the fact that they go to the chapel makes me feel more confident that they are a good person
