Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

I’m not sure that this goes here, but I hope you bear with me.

My husband and I were traveling around the area and stopped by a “painted church” a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to see just how beautiful it is inside and take some pictures. Anyway, when we entered, we noticed that Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was taking place. I didn’t feel right at all taking any sort of pictures because of Adoration, so we just say and worshipped for an hour before leaving.

My question is, would it have been wrong for me to take pictures of the church during Adoration? Like I said, I didn’t feel comfortable doing so, but are there any rules against it?
 
I don’t think it would be wrong as long as you are discreet and do your best to avoid distracting people at prayer.

I have seen several websites that have a live webcam in an adoration chapel, and EWTN regularly televises holy hours, so I assume there is nothing inherently wrong in photographing the Blessed Sacrament.
 
No, I don’t think it would have been wrong.

The painted churches are advertised as a tourist attraction, they have a driving-tour map available from the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce-- so they are expecting tourists with cameras.
 
🙂 As a part time photographer, you will notice in some places they ask you not to take “FLASH” photography. The reason behind this being that the flash has some negative affect on the paint and fabrics used in older buildings and objects. In your situation I would have wanted to make the pictures, but would have done as you did, then if there was no ban on photography I would have made the photos at the end. EWTN was mentioned and I have been to Mass when it is being taped, but you could not tell it was. I do not know where they hid the cameras, but at the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament you are not allowed to make photos because they feel it is a disruption of the service, and prayer time (I believe). I know that I answered a different aspect of your question, but I hope it is helpful for future reference. Go with God, He will never lead you astray.:extrahappy:
