Hi! I’m feeling a bit doubtful and down right now, so I thought I’d make a thread where we can share adoration experiences. I have 2, so I’ll start-
  1. Not quite an adoration story, but when I was 12 I was going through an atheist phase. I was alone in church, and I stood before the alter chanting, “You aren’t real, you don’t exist” over and over again in my head. Suddenly tears came out of my eyes. I wouldn’t call it crying because I felt emotionless and there were no strong emotions that could have led to me crying. I left a bit disturbed and confused. Looking back on it, I seemed to have literally denied God right to His face!
  2. This happened a few weeks ago at the Steubenville Youth Conferences. We were having adoration, and though I felt detached because I was in a state of mortal sin, I still kinda felt the presence of Jesus. Every girl (and a few guys) were crying. We were praying for the Holy Spirit during worship music and suddenly people around the room started laughing! I know Holy Laughter is a bit controversial, but it was probably the purest laughter I have ever heard. They were so overjoyed, it seemed like they couldn’t stop!
Anyways, there’s my stories. What about yours?
Pax Christi!

I saw the face of a bearded man in the exposed host… this was after I heard a voice but not orally, but AROUND me say to me “There’s an empty chair up here… come on up!” I was startled and actually looked around at who could have said that. There was only one lady praying silently. I had been thinking about the bible passage the first shall be last and the last shall be first, so I was going to sit toward the back… feeling unworthy and all…

Jesus is real and he likes his people to be near him. I was so shaken, I just cried with astonishment…

On the feast day of Corpus Christi, while the adoration was going on, my eyes were glued to the Monstrance. I saw a red colored stain almost in the middle of the glass outside Host. I thought it was probably the Monstrance, designed that way. But right after Tantum Ergo I started noticing the blood stain started slowly fading. I asked my wife if she saw the blood stain and she didn’t. And this was not a vision, it was real physical sight. Since it was the first time, I was like in a state which I couldn’t explain. I’m really happy though to witness this miracle and quickly informed about this to a brother (who is now a priest). At time when My wife and I were in Adoration Chapel, we see vision of Heaven, and Host turning bright and so on. How humble is our Jesus, who comes to us in the form of a Host. When we use to have some spiritual attacks, a priest who deals with these issues used to recommend us to visit Blessed Sacrament everyday. Even if it is for 5 mins. He used to say, you don’t even need to pray, just be in Lord’s presence and He will take care of everything(give strength, peace and everything needed to be with Him and in Him.:knight1:

I’m glad you started this thread.

At easter time, went to adoration. Light coming in the rounded window behind and above the monstrance reflected against the back wall. The reflection looked exactly like the painting of Jesus praying in the Garden of Gesthemane…everyone present say the reflection.

We had gone to a religious house, where there were a number of vows/ordinations/etc being taken over a several-day period, and we were in church for one thing or another at least twice a day for several days. I had my 4yo and his 18-mo old brother along, and since things were standing-room-only for this particular ceremony, I let the 4yo sit in the very back of the main aisle so they could see, sit, and be still while I held his little brother by the door, and couldn’t see much. It was the last night, and it struck me how pure and serious and innocent my little 4yo looked, and I wanted to take a picture of it to remember the moment by. But of course, I wasn’t going to do photography right in the middle of their ceremony.

After everyone had left for cake and congratulations, the kids and I looped back around to take that photo in the empty church. But, oops, there were probably about ten people there, deep in prayer, in Adoration. I didn’t want to go taking photos during Adoration, either, so I left, and ran into my host, who was wondering why we weren’t at the cake-and-congrats and had come looking for us. I explained my dilemma, since it was the last night there and there wouldn’t be another opportunity in the morning, but my host said, “Sure, go ahead.” So we went back, took a few pictures at the back of the church with no-flash, and said a few prayers.

My 4-yo turns to me and asks, “Who was that voice, Mommy?”

Of course, it’s all been perfectly silent, because it’s Adoration.

I should have said, “I didn’t hear a voice,” but because I was self-conscious with our host standing right there, I said, “There wasn’t a voice.”

My 4yo said, “The voice on the microphone. It said, ‘Hello’, but I didn’t see anyone.”

I had gone on that trip in serious need of graces. Most of them ended up happening to my 4yo. I still have no clue as to any specific bigger meaning behind any particular event— but the memories still inspire me to be a better person, and a better mom.

Thank you for sharing these experiences. When I was in the process of reverting and could not receive communion I attended daily mass which followed the rosary and noon Angelus prayer. On Ash Wed my small daily mass group grew to about 200! I was told everyone can come up for ashes. As I followed the line to the left of the altar, I passed a small chest in a recess (Tabernacle) and felt a warm presence there. When I sat down I could not take my eyes off it. The Lord let me know where He was.

Back in my parish adoration chapel, adoration it is only on first Fridays. On other Fridays we still meet for rosary and Divine Liturgy. I was accompanied by my daughter one Friday and I was trying to usher her in quietly and got her a Liturgy book, then she started asking questions when I felt someone staring. I looked up and the host was in the monstrance. I froze with attention and motioned to my daughter. The Lord let me know He was there, again.
