Can anyone give a detailed explanation of Advent Embertide as to what I should be doing, praying for ect…my priest talked about it today, about fasting and abstinance on Wed. Fri and Sat this week because this takes place after the third Sunday of Advent. Aside from fasting/abs he said about praying for the clergy and for vocations. He was stressing on how important it is and how it has died off since V2. I would like to do what I need to do in this practice so if anyone could tell me anything about it I’d be grateful.
 
I have a book, “Catholic Customs & Traditions”, by Greg Dues. I looked up Ember Days----

“Until 1966 the custom of fasting and partial abstinence was observed in Catholic homes on these days, (Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday). Today, national bishop’s conferences determine the scheduling and themes for Ember Days. In many countries Ember Days has become days of prayer for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.”
