Advent Music for Children

Hi,

I am wondering if you know of any songs that children could play on their instruments during the Advent Season. I was told by our priest we can not have any Christmas music played in the Church during Advent. I was thinking of Joy to the World, Silent Night, Away in a Manger to be played before Mass with just the children playing and the organist accompanying them softly. Any ideas of songs that the children would know would be great.

Veni Veni Emmanuel is a very good Advent song and fairly well known by most. Although this is also a song that can be played during Mass as well.

It’s well known and I think it would be relatively easy for the children to learn. It’s the first one that came to mind as I thought of children playing the recorder or other simple instrument.
