Okay, but more often than once a week on Sunday evening? Inquiring minds want to know šŸ˜Š

It depends on the week. It is the holidays and weā€™re pretty busy. But basically whenever we eat our dinner in the dinning room, we light it. We just light the correct number of candles for the week.

Okay, thanks. I donā€™t mean to pry.

I ask this question because Iā€™m the only one I know IRL who lights the wreath every evening. Everyone else only does once a week, on Sundays, and they all think Iā€™m weird. I am weird, but not for this reason IMO. It reassures me to learn there are others who donā€™t confine their wreath lighting to Sunday evening. ā¤ļø

Ours is currently missingā€¦
Of course, weā€™re already 2 weeks into St. Philipā€™s Fast in the Byzantine Church and technically donā€™t have Advent. So if it doesnā€™t turn up, thatā€™s my story and Iā€™m stickinā€™ to itā€¦

Weā€™ve just started to use our Advent wreathā€¦I downloaded the procedure at a Catholic website and printed itā€¦it has a prayer to bless the wreath and sprinkle with holy waterā€¦ a prayer is then said for the first week at the evening meal and the candle extinguished after the meal is finishedā€¦the following week the first and second candles are lit and a different prayer is said for that weekā€¦etc for the 3rd and 4th weekā€¦there are various Catholic online websites you can check out ā€¦some are slightly different than othersā€¦just type in ā€œCatholic Advent prayersā€ youā€™ll find them

Sunday is probably the day we are least likely to be home for dinner during Advent. We often are visiting with relatives or out doing something as a family.

We used to keep it on the coffee table but have moved it to the kitchen table. On Sundays, we light the candle, sing an advent song, and take turns leading a prayer. We make a pledge to do something to ā€œPrepare the way of the Lord.ā€

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) Ours isnā€™t really a wreath yet because we havenā€™t bought a tree yet. Thatā€™s what I usually use for the greenery.
