If you want to read a really good apologetics of the CC in the light of SDA criticisms and see SDA ripped apart, see interntet Jim Licoudis.

He is in my view the best catholic apologist. He is a prolific writer and a very learned man.

He admits that he feels the part about JPII return is WRONG.
So it just may depend on the Adventist.

My Catholic friend found this seminar and wanted to go, so we went, it was something like 7 nights. Anyway your so right, it started out wonderful and there was a fellow speaking to my friend quite a bit at first 😉 Then we came to the last several nights. . . Then he started on the whole sabbath thing and how the catholic church changed the day as was written in the bible that only the anti christ would.

The guy in front actually moved away from us. My friend said she felt like she had horns! We had coffee and desert after and laughed but we stuck it out to the end. In the last class they moved it from the Hotel to the church. It ended up as a total slam on yes the catholic church but also ANY church that worships on a sunday. All churches who worship on sunday are clumped together in their eyes. Sunday worshipers are the SAME as Catholic church. (So see we are all together anyway:D )

and the awful thing was afterwards they stopped by twice unannoucned by my friends house. I lived in a small town outside the city so they didnt want to travel so far 🙂
 
I am not sure if any of you are familiar with the Beginning Apologetics Series (San Juan Catholic Seminars). They have some really good booklets about 40 pages in length on various topics. #8 is called The End Times: What Catholics Believe about the Second Coming, Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, and Indulgences. I found it very informative. It mentions SDA beliefs in passing but I hope they will eventually dedicate a whole booklet to Adventism. I am going to write in and suggest that.

Years ago I worked as a security guard in an apartment building, and one night someone had put in front of many doors a book entitled “National Sunday Law.” I picked up a copy and read it, and was interested (I did not belong to any church at this time). It had a coupon to send off for a free book to learn more about the “true church.” I sent it off and received a copy of The Great Controversy. It was then I found out it was from the SDAs. I read it and was interested until it talked about William Miller (a false prophet who predicted the end of the world in 1843), and my interest evaporated.
In the lobby of the hospital I work people will leave various religious tracts and books (evangelical, JW) and occasionally see SDA literature. It never mentons the SDA church, but if mentions E.G. White, or the Sabbath, its SDA. At least the JWs have the integrity to be upfront about who they are! :mad:

The Bible identifies the RCC in the Bible…you people don’t realize this because you have not the Spirit of Prophecy in you.

He most likely will be…there is nothing in Bible prophecy to suggest otherwise.

The next one will be a reincarnation of JP2.

**No one from the SDA’s knows if this will be the case or have ever suggested this to the best my knowledge. Wait…I think they have as a possibilty but no one knows and has said they know these things for sure but to be cautious if it does.

I believe in my own opinion it will be either:
  1. Pope Benedict will be the last pope in the long line of popes and calls for the Sunday Law to be enforced (as well as all the popes being the angel of light that Satan has transformed himself into to decieve the nations that the Bible talks about) and thats it.
OR
  1. Satan will appear as JP2 (which I doubt)
OR
  1. Satan will appear as Jesus to decieve the nathions having the power to transform himself into an angel of light. (doubt this as well but it may be the case…only time will tell) ;)**
But it will not really be him but satan copying him to lead the world astray’!

Talking about the last days people who teach and/or keep all 10 commandments, and that is not the RCC. It is referring to SDA’s here mostly.

On the contrary Charlie. We Catholics pray to Mary because it is Biblical. When we pray the “Hail Mary”, we are reciting scripture. In fact, the first part of the prayer is taken almost word for word from the Bible.

“Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you. (Luke 1:28).
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” (Luke 1:42).

The second part is also based on scripture.

Holy Mary “you have found favor with God.” (Luke 1:30).
Mother of God—“mother of my Lord.” (Luke 1:43).
Pray for us sinners (we as Christians pray for one another).

Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Mary is not dead. Catholics do not believe in the SDA concept of soul sleep so it might be hard for you to understand that we, as St. Paul did, ask fellow believers (saints) to pray for us. St. Paul (Rom 15:30), (Cor 4:3), 1 Thess 5:25), Eph 6:18-19), 2 Thess 3:1)

Catholics believe that we are not cut off from each other at death. This we also learned from Jesus. For example, Jesus tells the good thief, as they were hanging on the cross “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43).

Dear Charlie,

I disagree, for many reasons, that Jesus is talking about the SDA Church when he tells Peter that that gates of the netherworld will not prevail against the Church that Jesus started. The Adventist Church cannot trace its roots back the the Church that Jesus started. The Catholic Church can. The Catholic Church also keeps all ten commandments.

Sadly, the Adventist Church does not keep all the ten commandments, because the Adventist Church permits abortion. Abortion violates God`s commandment not to commit murder. While many Adventists may not personally commit murder, the Adventist Church allows it, and often performs it at Adventist hospitals.

Jesus also warns us about false prophets. Ellen White was a false prohet.

I`m adventist and I never heard one fellow advenstist saying ratzinger is supposed to be the last pope. And if there is an adventist saying such thing (or any other christian) then I have no idea how on earth would he come to that conclusion.

The way I see it is that, yes, we have many differences but I`d rather spend my time witnessing to a depressed atheist then trying to convert one christian to another christian church. I think satan has done enough damage already dividing christianity in one million different denominations, we should heavily focus on introducing Jesus Christ to the people who lost all faith and hope in a better future. 😉

But can you see how they ask questions then find bible quotes to support their answers. Anyone can do that and do. Aethiests do it all the time. That is nothing new.

Take for example:

“Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures…” Acts 17:2

What St Paul is actually saying is that he had a mission to the Jews. He met them in their synagogues in order to convert them. Now that is why he went there on the sabbath. There would have been no point in going there on another day as there wouldn’t have been anyone there 😛

They typically do this all the time. Raise a question then find a bible text which appears to answer that question as though both question and answer came from the bible. That is deception. That is what their father satan [small s intended] is rekown for.
