I think a great way to get people to fall in love with the EF is to advertise it as reverent and “vertical”. Billboards, bumper stickers, shirts etc.

People on this forum have been saying that the bishops may be repressing the EF. They can’t. The whole point of the motu proprio was to delegate the right to say the EF to the priest and NOT the bishop.

With a lot of preyer and hard work, I feel that we will succeed in either restoring the EF as the normal form of mass, or at least making the OF more reverent.

I agree. When college starts next fall, I’m going to make flyers to put in the Newman Center for guided “field trips” to check out what the Mass was like for over a thousand years. I really hope that people will be into that! Also as individuals, we need to invite our Catholic friends to check out the EF as well. Two of my friends will be coming with me sometime in the next few weeks, and I really hope they see what a treasure it is.

I suppose the idea itself has some merit but be careful not to give (or even allow) the impression that the “field trips” are to a museum. The participants must understand that the EF is not like “Colonial Williamsburgh” (a museum where “the past comes alive” and then one goes back to the real world). They must understand that the EF is alive and that it is part of the real world.
 
I use bumper stickers that say, “I love the Traditional Latin Mass”. Amazing how many people have asked me about it. Not to mention the dozens more that stop and look at my bumper. :yup:
 
For my pre-confirmations class (now over) students, I’ve open up a facebook group for them, on there I have some basic info on the EF, but no questions from them 😦

By the way, where do you get a bumper sticker that says " I love the Latin Mass"?
 
At a Convent where I live, there are Posters and these little triangle stand things (like when there’s a wet floor that little yellow thing that stands up) that says “Traditional Latin Mass = THIS WAY! COME ONE! COME ALL! COME! COME!” and “The Mass of the Ages is right this way!”. It is servd by Una Voce. Una Voce does a GREAT bit of advertising.

what a great idea! i have a bumper sticker that says Catholics Come home.org and EWTN TV.

i will make one for the Latin Mass. the only problem is i dont have a priest to celebrate the Latin Mass around here. the bishop will not allow it.

You could always get a bumper sticker that says, I’d drive 500 miles for a Latin Mass 😃 Just discovered them today on cafepress… I guess that is a trad inside joke.

Just pray for the bishop, he thinks he is well-intentioned… he knows not what he does 😦 My bishop only allows one regularly, right under his nose… I can only imagine what a struggle that good priest has gone through for our sake. May God Bless him for his courage!!!

“The bishop will not allow it.”. . . . . How often have I experienced this same reaction. One wonders where these prelates came from. Their allegiance is suppose to be to Rome. The Traditional Latin Mass of the Roman Rite was never outlawed by the Second Vatican Council and has been encouraged by the last two popes. The Vatican, however and regrettable, is losing its grip on the church worldwide, especially in the United States.
There are far too many examples of Catholic clerics and religious who are in constant opposition to the teachings and practices of the church. The Church is plagued with professing Catholics who clearly are not in communion with the Church. All of this results in serious obfuscation among laity when there are so many ordinaries, priests, and nuns who take a defiant and refractory position.

it is time for the Vatican to help and encourage the Latin Mass. that is what i am waiting and hoping for it. perhaps if we can make contact with the Vatican to campaign for the Latin Mass, it would be more encouraging and will let the holy father know that the people do want the EF Mass and that we are serious about it. if we just let up to the bishop, we will not get it.

Take heart, the Pope knows that there are many Bishops that have made up their own rules after Vatican 2. In case you don’t already know about this, The Pope has been busy replacing questionable Bishops (when they retire at 75 years of age) with new Bishops that are very conservative and love the traditional ways. So the replacement of Bishops has already started. I know that in the state of New Jersey (I don’t remember the name of the town) The first thing the new Bishop did was to gut the inside of his new church and put back everything that was there in the first place. The high altar is up against the wall, the Tabernacle is in the middle of the altar, etc… It will take some time, but changes are being made.

That’s good but this won’t necessarily translate into more Latin Masses. And what does “conservative” mean these days anyway? Or even traditional? I’ve seen such bishops still retain liturgical dancing and such within their dioceses. Maybe done with more reverence, if you will, but they’re not automatically going to remove what you and I would normally consider abuses. On the other hand, there are what-you-consider “liberal” bishops actually actively setting up Traditional Masses. The late Cardinal in Chicago set up Latin Masses at four locations after the 1988 Ecclesia Dei was issued. So it depends on the diocese and its churchgoers.
 
The case being that the celebration of the Traditional Mass is up to a priest, how many priest would be wanting to do this? Due to the fact that most priests attended seminaries that are non-traditional, I feel that the priests themselves would oppose what is Traditional. I would be very grateful if I receive feedback from this concern. Pax Domini.
