Advice and steps on building a home altar/chapel

A little off topic but a friend of mine lived in a house with a priest hole. It has been converted into a loo.
 
This is my home altar which is in the entrance hall. It’s at the heart of home. I have a shrine to Our Lady and a shrine to the Sacred Heart opposite sides of the lounge (statue, candles, and votive lamp). (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)
 
What is the silver vessel on the left in the photos please? It reminds me of an ablution bowl, but not quite as the base is large.
 
Ah, ok, thanks . It’s of a type I haven’t seen before. Now that I’ve zoomed in, I can see the holes in the top half! 🙂

Yes, it’s typically used in Eastern Christian homes for prayer. I’m a little disappointed with it because the holes are too small for the charcoal to breathe when closed; I need to keep it open when I burn incense, otherwise, the charcoal goes out quickly.
 
I’ve just been scrolling through pics on google, and read someone else had the same issue with the one they bought, so that’s something to keep in mind.
