Well, welcome aboard, and “advice” of this type is welcome to give. I wish you were coming here to the Midwest (Sure you wouldn’t really rather go to Shimer in Waukegan?

). But, as you’re not, we’ll have to go with what we have.
If you are going to St. John’s, that means you have the capacity to think logically and draw a conclusion; else, you would not be in a Great Books school.
I was going suggest you do a search on the St. John’s site. I tried every search I know, and came up with zip.
SOOOOOO, it appears Annapolis falls under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. I finally came up with some resources for the area, specifically concerning St. John’s:
http://www.stmaryschurch.org You are generally not going to have a problem with a Redemptorist (the order of priests) parish. So, this is a good thing. They also sponsor Theology on Tap, where young adults can get together and discuss well, theological issues, in a relaxed setting They also have a service called Eucharistic Adoration, a very good sign in a parish.
http://www.baltimorecatholic.com/calendar/index.html Deals with young adults, including college students, and lots of Catholic terms and practices.
There is generally a “branch office” of the Catholic Church at most universities and colleges that are non-Catholic, called Newman Centers. if a parish setting does not work out for you, you might try a Newman Center or campus ministry component. I can’t seem to find one for St. John’s. I do have an email for the priest who does campus ministry in Frostburg (some 170 miles away from Annapolis), which is
Ehendric@archbalt.org. The priest at Towson University’s email is
albright@towson.edu. The only other college-type thing I see nearby is the Naval Academy. Normally, Catholic chaplains are very generous with their time to the civilian community, but USNA is a busy place, and they are a focused bunch over there.
As I play with maps, I am discovering you are very close to Baltimore, only 30 miles away!!! This is great!!! Johns Hopkins has a priest, whose email is
TTTrion@aol.com. Catholic University of America is very nearby,
ministry.cua.edu/.
What else can I tell you? As you have a capacity to think, use your own best judgment.
