Dear friends
,
My baptism will be occurring in approximately 50 hours.
I can feel the great weight of eternity pressing on my soul. Knowing that the gates which heretofore have remained shut shall be opened, I can sense the total immensity of God our Lord on my shoulders. He is finally breaking the portal open, and the sweet fragrance of true life, true joy, and great salvation is wafting through the crack. With every minute the meadows and grand apartments of the New Jerusalem shine brighter through this humongous doorway.
Can anyone recommend me traditional, solemn prayers to say or at least try to say as I am being baptised? What should my mindset be as the Father is intoned and poured upon me? As the Son is intoned and poured upon me? As the Holy Spirit of God is intoned and washes me? It is a short split second of a moment, but all things change and walking death is turned into glorious life. How can I express the majesty of my soul as it grows into what God has wanted it to be all along?
I’m going to pray the Te Deum after Holy Communion, after all these months of preparation to memorise its deep ancient meaning in Latin and English. This thanksgiving will come with many tears of happiness, I’m sure, but I want to know some general prayers you dear brethren would recommend for the holy moment!
