I have to write a paper going into the background of one of the documents of Vatican II. What are the best book(s) you recommend where I can find a treatment on how each of the documents came to be addressed at that council? Thanks!!
 
I would look at 'More Post Concilar Documents The Vatican Council New revised Edition"

There are two volumes. These are really big books but they are full of information.

General Editor: Austin Flannery, O.P.
