What “good parts” does it have that we do not already possess? Personally, when I started reading it I got physically ill and had the distinct feeling that this wasn’t something I should be doing. Very weird. I gave it back to the missionaries on their return. Other than the portions lifted from the Bible I can’t think of any value there at all. 🤷

The story of Alma the younger really resonates with me. I will always love Alma 36. Seriously, read it. In honesty, it is a fairly good rip-off of the story of Saul/Paul.

The whole book of Ether. I will always love how it ends.

The Book of Mormon isn’t “true”, but that doesn’t mean it is devoid of worth entirely, although it is fair to say that to take it as anything than fiction is spiritually dangerous. But as fiction, it has its moments. =)

 How Ether ends? The deaths of millions of people? They died in vain, because the Nephites refused to learn from their experience. It is a dismal image of man’s inhumanity to man-- nothing inspirational at all about it.

Yes…like the Old testament and all the thousands who died in all those battles and all who died in the flood.

Nothing inspirational…

The last verse: Now the last words which are written by Ether are these: Whether the Lord will that I be translated, or that I suffer the will of the Lord in the flesh, it mattereth not, if it so be that I am saved in the kingdom of God. Amen.

The dude saw the whole of his people killed, all of his family and friends, everything he has ever known is over, and yet he still has hope, faith in God.

Like I said: It is not true. That doesn’t mean it has no worth as the fiction it is.

your opinion is noted.

Thank you!

Funny that you decided to take that stance at that time.
