I take insult at this remark and want an apology.
Your quote " It is folks who wish to discriminate who want those laws abolished " paints all people that want AA abolished with a very bigoted and broad brush.

I am not a bigot.
I do not wish to descriminate based on race, gender, or any other non-job related qualification.

Nor do I descriminate.

I have, however, had government sponsered racism against myself. An AA company hired another individual of lessor qualifications then myself because they were a minority.

That is why I believe AA should be abolished.

AA does nothing but perpetuate hatred.
And I want my apology.
You say you are not a bigot but you want to discriminate by race, gender or ethnicity ??? How else would anyone define bigotry, I think you have defined the term very adequately.,

Please define bigotry for me, and IF you do not fit the definition I will gladly apologize.

There is a right to a fair job, or a house in whatever neighorhood anyone can afford. It is call the Civil rights act. IT the law of the land. Like it or not it a basic right defined by this country and many other countries as well.

I find it contradictory that you folks find discrimnation abhorrent, but you refuse to recognize that it is illegal and rightly so.

vz71, I do apologize… I see that it is Chris’s comments who says that he still wants to be able to sort out out who he can sell his house to or who he wants to hire, even if it is based on sex race or whatever.

Folks who merely oppose AA are NOT all bigots, so I do apologize that I included those folks in.

BUT I do reiterate, that IF anyone wants to restrict who you hire or who you sell your house to by race religion, sex or ethnicity, then they ARE by definition, bigots.

And as I said before, HOW else do you define bigotry ???

Accepted, thank you.

You are correct, concerning your definition.
That is one of the definitions of bigotry.
But given what we now know of bigotry, prejudice, etc. How can we possibly be for a government sponsership of these practices?
That is, in essence, what AA is all about.

There is an old joke that someone goes into Church and prays that he wins the lottery. then a mysterious voice says, please go out and buy a ticket.

God helps those that help themselves and He works through the actions and efforts of folks who actively make an effort to make change happen. IF all you do is sit by idlely wishing and hoping and praying for a solution very likely little or nothing will ever change.

IF it were not for the civil rights movement we would still be living under a segregated society. Social change happens because some brave souls are willing to challenge the status quo.

The prayers for a cure to cancer, will most likely come about because God will guide some researcher(s) to find a cure. Cancer will not all of a sudden disappear.

Yes, prayer works miracles, but most times miracles requires some human intervention. The miraculous does happen, but it happens a whole lot faster, if agents of change push it along. The vast majority of minorites will tell you that things are infinitely better today than they were 50 years ago.

None of that would have happened, if everyone sat idlely by and simply prayed that things wuld get better. It took the efforts of a MLK or a JFK or a RFK to move these changes along. It is just incomprehensible to me that anyone would have the least bit desire to return to the racial oppressition prior to the 60’s.

The notion that anyone would want to overturn the hard fought civil rights laws just shows us how much bigotry still exists.

It looks like there are really 2 discussions going on here. One is AA which is controversial at best and can very easily be viewed as reverse discriination.

I have no qualms about letting the better qualified candidate being selected no matter what their background.

The second discussion, is the notion that people can hire whoever they want or sell to who ever they want even if they are fully qualified.

This is grossly unfair and is the very essense of discrimination and racial bigotry.

IF you have a home to sell and a black family offers you the price that you asked for, you do NOT have the right to turn them down. That is the very essence of racial bigotry. It is illegal, should be illegal and should remain illegal. It makes no sense to me that anyone would want to make this behavior legal.

It is morally wrong and reprehensible and anyone who defends or advocates this sort of behavior, is equally culpable as the perpetrators. Evil triumphs when good does nothing. IF you allow hatred and bigotry to perpetuate itself, you are no innocent bystander.

Do you believe you have answered the question?

I haven’t seen it.

I know a guy who’s half “Asian”, yet he hates Affirmative Action as much as he hates Satanism.
