There’s no rule that you have to go to confession in your home parish. My confessor (I go to the same person every time by appointment) is pastor of the church in the next town. I am so glad you found my first posting on this thread, as I did not expect to hear from anyone who had had a similar experience.
I searched for your reference to Luke in the Bible, and found, of course, the parable of the Good Shepherd, one of my favorites.
I think I may be able to return to confession soon, perhaps in a different but nearby parish. I will post again here when I do so.
