Reading through these posts, I think you will find much in what LindaMarie posted. LittleMary suggested going to Eucharistic Adoration where simply sitting at the Lord’s feet brings many blessings.
I too live in NC and have found a more vibrant Catholic Community here than any other place that I have lived. I don’t have a car so I cannot meet you in Salisbury although it is not that far away.
As for communion, it is okay to approach the altar. Crossing your arms in front of you signifies your inability to receive the host today and the priest will give you a blessing.

While this would work in a normal circumstance he is in Afghanistan. He will not return until April of 08. He will however be home on R&R in September when I am due to have his first child, my third (I was previously married all explained in OP). It happens a lot and while it does scare me I know that the next day he will be appolgizing and saying he doesn’t mean it. 😊 I actually told him yesterday that, “I am sorry but divorce is no longer an option for us. I just do not believe in them anymore.” And said a little prayer hoing that would be enough to subdue the beast until the next arguement. 🤷
Terri, you have a man under big-time stress. Please soft pedal your “Catholic” issues for his sake. Sure: keep going to Mass; maybe go to RCIA. But take counsel from your pastor on how to take good care of the father of your child. God may be more important than all else but part of your road to heaven is to get there hand-in-hand with that man. God love ya!

…the trick is getting up after falling…we all slip, slide and fall…so many just whine and stay down there…play the victim bit…".gee, my great great great grandaddy had pointed ears and was hated…thats why I cant hold onto a job…its not because I call in sick a lot.or wise off to the customers or take extra long breaks…no …its all ‘their’ fault.!’.always…take a glance at the hand mirror…thats your biggest enemy right there…its not the size of the dog in the fight that counts…its the size of fight in the dog!!! Nino (been there, done that)

I have a copy of the catechism, although I have yet to crack it open. I think I am a little intimidated by it.
QUOTE]

The catechism is an aid to teaching what we believe as Catholics, but it’s better used as a reference book than something you read from cover to cover (although I know people who have done that). It can be quite helpful.

Always be grateful for the foundation the Baptist Church has given you in faith!

Terri, my sister – this hunger you have for Holy Communion is nothing other than a very great personal grace from the Boss himself.

If you pursue your journey, be prepared to suffer with his longing until you are able to receive Our Lord in this way. They say that longing for the Eucharist is a very powerful and efficacious form of Penance . . . .

God love you! :hug3:
Just a note – even Catholics who are in not in a state of grace can suffer this longing for our Lord when they attend mass (we’re not supposed to receive Him if we’re in a state of mortal sin, but we’re still to attend mass). This longing is a gift from God – urging us to continue to seek Him, to repent, to grow in knowledge, in faith, and in service to Him and others.

Thanks for all you’re supportive words. While I do respect and support my husband and what he does, I wouldn’t have married him otherwise; I often feel as if he doesn’t respect or support what I do. As a matter of fact he has said that I don’t do anytihng. And he wishes he could do my job instead of his. I try explaining to him what I do all day, and it is not sitting on the computer playing video games. I am a full time student. I even elected to take 3 classes this summer as well. I am a mother to two beautiful babies whom I am fighting to get full custody of them back from my exhusband. I am also pregnant, and I have a husband who has been gone for almost 8 months, and will be gone until April of next year. My job isn’t easy, neither is his. But I didn’t agree to do his job. I agreed to do my job. I knew what being an Army wife would be like. (My exhusband is in the Army too) I knew what I was signing up for and I accepted it. I have also been very patient with him, before we got married I was going to wait until he got home from his deployment because he tld me he didn’t even believe in God, and I couldn’t marry someone who didn’t believe in God. But he came to me and told me he did believe, and that after he had spent some time in deep thought an search he had accepted the Truth. Then after he had been gone for a few months he said he didn’t believe and I was just going to have ot accept it. He waivers, he has a mental disorder that has not been diagnosed (there is no way this is all normal behavior), he actually told me he wants to go to hell. I told him that we can’t have a marriage if he wants to lead us to hell. Lots of complicated stuff our life is up and down every day, one day he is appologizing the next he is telling me he wants a divorce again!

Sorry I know I got off track, just been thinking about this alot lately, and I don’t now what to do. I do not want to give up on my marriage, but I know that he is not wanting to work on it one minute and then wants to the next, and then even when he says he does he doesn’t want to do what it takes. Easier to give up I suppose.
