This is something I gave a lot of thought lately. How can I even dare to look at him, let alone receive him? If it is really his flesh and blood, if my lord and god is really there, visible and tangible, how can I not collapse on the floor and cry? This is too much for a human. Yes, I know, he himself invited us to come and wants us to unite with him, but still. Sometimes, even having been to confession shortly before, I cannot bring myself to get up in line for communion. I feel like I cannot really grasp it, the “Domine, non sum dignus ut intres…” In a way, also I fear that via participating in the mysterium I could kinda destroy it. I know, it sounds crazy, but I am afraid that it could become something normal, routine. Anyone here with similar experiences?

Yes, it’s common with scrupulosity. Assuming you’re disposed (baptized and not conscious of any unconfessed grave sin), get up there and receive the Eucharist.

You think that you have this kind of power? 🤨

He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. —John 6:54

The Eucharist is a gift. If properly disposed to receive, do not be afraid to do so!
