I’m doing a study on the Church Fathers, and they’re divided on this subject.
Tertullian of Carthage, St. Irenaeus of Lyons, and Antipater of Bostra believed the earth would be annihilated.
St. Augustine of Hippo, Oecumenius of Trikka, Andrew of Caesarea, and Methodius of Olympus believed the earth would be transformed.
Does the CCC teach on this subject? Is there a specific Catholic teaching on the subject. I assume annihilationism is correct…
