Why did the apostles not recognize Jesus after the resurrection. The apostles were with him for 3 years and only departed for 3 days. I know that His face may have been grotesquely abused because of the torment He was put thru and he still had the nail wounds and pericing on His side. I was told once that God had blinded them from knowing that it was Jesus, until Jesus revealed Himself to them in His true glory. I also have read that there was some dispute among the Earl Church Fathers the type of apperance he had. They were basing this view from Isaiah 53:2-3, “There is no beauty in Him nor comeliness…” but later it was generally accepted that He did posses human beauty. If this was the case, if Jesus was in fact not attractive before the resurrection but was attractive after it, then this is why the apostles did not recognize Him. I know that this teaching has not been officially promulgated, but I was just curious to find out why the apostles did not recognize our Lord.
