If you have the third edition or later, be sure to read the preface. He makes a few comments about his original rejection of the need for a metaphysical biology to ground teleology.

Great book. Great author.

Also consider Steven Long’s Teleological Grammar of the Moral Act. (You’ll notice it has a special recommendation from MacIntyre.) And don’t forget to read Aquinas’ Commentary on the Nicomachean Ethics. Nor Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics itself.
