Again we wait for the Islamic outrage...and wait...and wait.

Could it be that the “average” person in Islam has a passive support of terrorism based on…oh, I don’t know…the teaching in their most holy book? Perhaps the reason we do not see massive demonstrations or denouncing of terrorism by those in Islam on the internet is that most follow the teaching of the Koran. Maybe the reason that the demonstrations are small and the denouncing of terror is sporadic is that the number of people who actually are in Islam and do not support terrorism is…well…small.
I have wondered about all these things also. :hmmm:

Interesting to say the least. I find it interesting that there is little public outrage against terrorism from the Islamic community when there leader clearly advocated it in the Koran. Now, of course, we know that all the “good” followers of Islam just read over those passages and don’t pay attention to them…or do they? Or perhaps, just perhaps, the reason you don’t see massive demonstrations is because you live in AMERICA! As has already been pointed out by numerous posters, and ignored, the American media needs to keep this anti Islamic train rolling. They won’t show you the big protests because they don’t want you to know that there are decent civilized Muslims. If you knew that you wouldn’t enjoy seeing Iraq being bombed to pieces.

If they don’t then neither do I… Either that or I’m insane and for some reason am suffering hallucinations of thousands of Muslims in Trafalgar Square peacefully protesting…what an odd medical condition I suffer from…

During the American War for Independance, the colonists broke down into roughly three equal components: one-third wanted independance from Britain; one-third wanted to remain loyal to Britain; and one third franky didn’t care one way or the other. This means that the faction which actually created the United States was realistically outnumbered two-to-one.

I suspect the worldwide Muslim population breaks down in a similar manner. You have one faction (admittedly perhaps quite small) that is radicalized and wants the complete and utter destruction and/or subjugation of the West; you have another (perhaps equally small) faction that denounces all forms of violence and terrorism; and then you have a third faction (which I personally think is hugely vast and contains the majority of Muslims worldwide) that takes no official position, but which wouldn’t lose too much sleep if the radicals triumphed. They say nothing, but secretly root for the terrorists and hope the terrorists win in their anti-Western jihad.

The actual numbers are speculation, of course, but if I had to take a wild guess, I’d say it probably break down to something like radicals=10%, moderates=20%, and the majority=70%. So, just as with the American colonists favoring independance, the moderates are outnumbered, except in this case it’s not three-to-one, it’s four-to-one.

I DO hope that you are right. Still, I am compelled by the lack of what I see from US muslims. It seems that on this side of the pond, there is much greater support for terror than there is for peace. Either that or I am suffering from the same medical condition that you suffer from, I am quite sure that I witnessed a great number of muslims protesting the US and Israel a few weeks ago here in my town. I am also sure that I witnessed them burning an American flag and holding signs that said they supported Al Queda, but that did not make the local news here either. Maybe I too am hallucinating.

Just as Catholics don’t feel the need to continuously voice opposition against the paedophile scum who masquerade as priests, Americans don’t feel the need to apologise for the horrendous actions of their troops, and WASPs don’t need to apologise for the white nationalist filth, Muslims don’t have to apologise to us just because a minority supports violent action against what they perceive against an oppressive imperialistic force.

Didn’t you two see all the links I posted on the first page? 150,000 people in Morocco; 250,000 in Jordan; thousands more in Baghdad, DC, Qayarrah, and Copenhagen? Or is that not enough?

“Horrendous actions of their troops”?

Oh, you mean like this one? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_of_Amritsar

Yeah, there have been a lot of those instances by American troops in Iraq.

Yeah I didn’t think I needed to provide links for things that had already been discussed, and links provided for them. And surely you can accept that not everybody views the ‘war’ as a lovely mission of peaceful change…

You aren’t going to shame me by providing a link to a 90 year old massacre initiated by British imperialists, who I have already stated I am against. I am not British, nor was I raised to be blindly patriotic. I think the people of India deserve an apology and am not afraid to say so. However, as an Irish citizen it is not me who has to do it.

Uh the only ones you posted that covered the US had about 2,000 total.

No no, what I described had already been posted… rather than attempting to ‘translate’ maybe you should have read it?

Now, I do give a little credence to the fact that the media might not be reporting the Islamic outrage. However, the last time I checked, the Internet was a pretty open forum for people to post whatever they were thinking. Muslims seem to have no problem finding the internet when they want to post footage of a beheading or something. So why not post how outrageous it is that a Catholic priest was killed by terrorists for saying the Mass? You know…like this one…

catholic.org/international/international_story.php?id=24282

The bottom line is that there is no Muslim outrage because at the heart of Muslim teaching is the belief that you kill anyone that stands in the way of Islamic teaching. It is found throughout the Koran, and this incident just goes to further the point.

The bottom line here that nobody wants to talk about because it scares the heck out of them is that we have a billion people on this planet that are dedicated to a religion which proudly proclaims that there shall be no religious freedom. This is evident time and time again when those that call themselves Muslim stay silent as Christians across the world are killed for their belief. Why are they silent? Because they privately support what these butchers are doing.

Carpet bombing, agent orange, shooting of unarmed civilians, torture and mockery of prisoners of war in violation of international law and so on. And no, before someone brings it up, I don not think that only Americans are guilty of these terrible acts.
